BAND SUPPLIES

Instruments

There are 2 kinds of instruments for Watauga Band Students: 

Store-Rented Instruments and School-Rented Instruments.

Store-Rented Instruments

• "Rent-to-Own" through a music store for a monthly payment

• Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, and Trombone

School-Rented Instruments

• Rented through Birdville ISD for a yearly rental fee to cover repairs and maintenance

• Oboe, Bassoon, Tenor and Bari Saxophones, French Horn, Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion

Class Supplies

Each instrument has their own specific list of class supply needs. Many of these supplies are purchased once in 6th grade and will last their entire career in band (tuner/metronome, wire music stand, swabs, mouthpieces, sticks and mallets etc.). Some supplies will need to be resupplied throughout their career in band (reeds, oils, creams, etc.).

Every band student will receive a WMS Band Shirt as part of their yearly band fee as well as a 3-ring binder for their music.

Supply Lists

Instruments and supplies must match the models/brands listed below. We work diligently to find the most quality brands for your students at the best possible value.

Any substitutions from this list need to be approved by a band director.

Recommended Music Stores:

Sweetwater Music

• Recommended for all class supplies and Store-Rented Instruments 

• Fully-online music company with high-quality instruments at affordable rates

Bell's Music Store (Keller, TX)

• Recommended for trumpet rentals, class supplies, and repair services

• Brick-and-mortar store about 15 minutes from Watauga MS

Music & Arts (Hurst, TX)

• Recommended for regular supply purchases throughout the year

• Brick-and-mortar store about 10 minutes from Watauga MS

Never purchase an instrument from Amazon/other big-box stores. 

These instruments are often low-quality and can not be repaired when they break. It will only frustrate your student and cost more in replacement over the long-term.

Uniforms

Each WMS Band Student will have a concert uniform based on their band placement.

Beginner Band Uniform

• WMS Band Shirt and Blue Jeans

Symphonic and Honors Band "Concert Black" Uniform

• Black dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes/flats, and long dress socks. 

• Dress shirts purchased through band directors at the beginning of school year

WMS Band Cost

The band experience is not fully funded by BISD. 

Through fundraising, we try to make band as affordable as possible. 

We will never allow money to be a reason your student can't be in band.
